2013 CalendarSave the DateOpen for Spring/Summer Season April 3rd-September 29thLakewold and the newly refurbished former Garden Shop are open for the spring and summer garden touring season Wednesday-Sunday from 10 am - 4 pm. Come see our new shop, in continuing progress, and make sure to visit throughout the season as we expand offerings throughout the estate. General Admission is $9 per person. Senior/Student/Military admission is $6 per person. Members of Lakewold and children 12 and under receive free admission. Volunteer Wednesdays April-September, 9 am-NoonDon’t mind getting your hands a bit dirty? Need a project or have some time to share while enjoying the outdoors? Come help out in the garden for a few hours each Wednesday morning. Lakewold’s Garden Team will work alongside you and others interested in gardening activities. No experience required. Educational opportunities too! Come join us and experience Lakewold in a different way. For more information, phone 253.584.4106. Discovery Walks April-September (3rd Wednesdays) 3pm-4pmVisitors will tour the gardens with Lakewold staff and volunteers, discussing seasonal changes, new additions and future plans. Discovery walks are significantly different than docented tours as there is a central, seasonal theme to each walk. Time is allowed for seasonal questions. Enjoy these walks every third Wednesday of each month: April 17th, May 15th, June 19th, July 17th, August 21st and September 18th. Standard Lakewold admission fees apply. Rainier League of Arts June 12th-16th, 10 am-4 pmWith a splash of color here and a splash of color there, over 20 artists will be on display featuring various forms of artwork in the lower Wagner House. The Rainier League of Arts joins Lakewold again this year to demonstrate its variety of art for all to see. Standard Lakewold admission fees apply. Annual Rhodie Deadhead Work Party June 8th 8:30 am-12 pmAs Lakewold prepares for summer, our annual mass-deadheading of the rhodies beckons volunteers to reach out and lend a hand. This work party is a great way to get involved and meet other volunteers and have a great time beautifying our beloved gardens. Participants will meet at 8:30 am at the kitchen of The Wagner House for a “thank you” complimentary breakfast. To participate, phone 253.584.4106.
Second City Chamber Series June 20th and July 18thTwice a year, some of the Northwest’s finest musicians come together to perform intriguing, challenging, and entertaining chamber music in The Wagner House. Have a front row, sit under the wisteria covered verandah or maybe throw a blanket out on the grass while relaxing to the moving sound of Second City Chamber Series.
