2017 Community Kids Day Recap

 Community Kids Day

CKD5On September 16th, Lakewold opened its gates for our annual Community Kids Day, welcoming over 200 children and families who enjoyed a variety of activities and educational booths representing a number of local organizations.  With heavy rain falling in the hours leading up to kickoff and threatening to continue, vendors and arts/crafts stations were moved into the historic Wagner House, the Story Corner relocated to the Library, and Kiwanis Club of Clover Park was protected by two huge awnings to keep their grills hot and the dogs dry!  Weather failed to damper the spirits of visitors or festivities, especially when Rhubarb joined the fun CKD7providing selfie opportunities and enough energy to keep everyone entertained.  Donations were collected (or $1 admission fee) to benefit Emergency Food Network, helping combat hunger in Pierce County.  Participants included Lakewood Police Dept., the Lakewood YMCA, Pierce County Water District, Tacoma Nature Center and the Children’s Museum, the Pierce County Health Department and Library System, Wolf Haven International and Camp Fire Orca. Kids Day 2018 will be held on Saturday, September 15th, when once again our gateswill open for a day of fun-filled activities!   Check back soon for more information!.
