A Beautiful Location for Business and Social Events

Thank you for your interest in the rental of the Wagner House at Lakewold Gardens.
Lakewold is the property of The Friends of Lakewold, a non-profit corporation. The Friends of Lakewold is responsible for preserving Lakewold and the Wagner house in perpetuity. Lakewold Gardens is located approximately ten miles south of Tacoma in Pierce County Washington on the west shore of Gravelly Lake. It is the former private residence of the late Eulalie and Corydon Wagner and is available to the public. The Wagner House is a beautiful Georgian-style mansion which is situated amidst the ten-acre gardens. Lakewold Gardens is registered as a historic site, with the State of Washington and City of Lakewood.

The Wagner House is available for company functions, including meetings, retreats, conferences, company parties, banquets, other business functions and more! Lakewold also provides a wonderful setting for special parties, teas and other social events. The entire staff wants your event to be a
memorable one.

Rooms Available

Upper Conference
Lower Conference Room
This room is the former living room of the Wagner House, and provides a great deal of flexibility in accommodating breakout sessions. The three French doors in this large room open out to the Wisteria Terrace. The adjacent former Dining Room opens off the Living Room and may be used for a grand buffet. The Lower Conference Hall is available year-round and comfortably accommodates up to 40 people (with tables and chairs) or up to 80 people (theater style). In-house coffee service is available for $5 per person with a limit of 20 people. Box lunches or a buffet may be purchased from one of our exclusive caterers. Rental costs (including setup by Lakewold staff): Half-day (4 hours) $200; Full-day (8 hours) $300.

 

Upper Conference Room
This room is located on the second floor of the Wagner House and provides a spectacular view of the gardens as well as Gravelly Lake. It is best suited for small groups and board-style meetings and retreats. The Upper Conference Hall is available year-round and comfortably accommodates up to 20. In-house coffee service is available for $5 per person. Box lunches may be purchased from one of our exclusive caterers. Sunroom
The Sunroom (also known as the Atrium) is a glass-framed room that provides the easiest access to the gardens and a northern view along the brick walkway towards the Belvedere. The Sunroom is only available for rent on days when Lakewold is closed to the public (May through September: Mondays). The Sunroom comfortably accommodates up to 25 people (with tables and chairs). In-house coffee service is available for $5 per person. Box lunches or a buffet may be purchased from one of our exclusive caterers. Rental costs (including setup by Lakewold staff): Half-day

Rental Award Program

Applications are being accepted from qualified non-profits for a program that will award free rental of the meeting and event spaces at Lakewold Gardens, a public garden and popular venue for meetings, special events, and weddings. The Rental Award Program was developed as a way to give back to the community and support other non-profit organizations.

Rental award recipients will receive the use of Lakewold Gardens for events such as staff or board retreats, conferences, or fundraisers. Previous award recipients include the Lakewood Lions, A Step Ahead, NW Institute for Restorative Justice, Centerforce, Second City Chamber, and the Interlaaken Garden Club. Rules and Regulations

Hours Available for Rental
Lakewold Gardens is open for public tours year-round. The events team will advise you of the hours the estate is available for rental. Lakewold Gardens is located in a residential area.

Time of Access
Your Letter of Confirmation will specify the time of your event. Allowances for early set-up and photography, must be arranged with the event manager.

Parking
Parking is available in front of the Wagner House and in the tour parking lot. If you plan to have more than 50 adults attending your event, you will be required to secure the services of Valet Parking Systems. A signed copy of the transportation company’s contract must be provided to the Event Coordinator thirty days before the date of your event.

Alcoholic Beverages
The dispensing and consumption of alcoholic beverages at Lakewold Gardens is subject to the rules established by the Pierce County Office of the Washington State Liquor Control Board and Lakewold Gardens. You will be required to indicate your intentions for alcohol dispensing and consumption during your event. In addition, please stop by your local liquor store to obtain a banquet permit for your event. You will need to provide a copy of this permit to the event manager prior to your event. Transport any alcohol (in and out) through the kitchen door at the South end of the Wagner Mansion. Sorry, but beer kegs and champagne fountains are not permitted. Bar service is to be attended by a member of the catering staff and open bottles or carafes may not be left unattended. Bar service must end thirty minutes prior to the event end time specified in your rental contract.
 
PEOPLE UNDER THE AGE OF 21 WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO CONSUME ALCOHOL AT LAKEWOLD GARDENS. If persons under the age of 21 are observed consuming alcohol, the Pierce County Sheriff will be summoned to handle the situation according to state law and your event will immediately end.

Cleaning
It will be your responsibility to return the Wagner House and Lakewold Gardens to the condition in which it was found. For example, this may include light cleaning and garbage removal. Custodial fees will be assessed for any further cleaning or reset which must be performed by our staff at a rate of $80/hour. Any charges incurred for additional cleaning or items removed from the grounds will be deducted from the Time/Damage/Cleaning deposit.

Decorations
Lakewold Gardens is registered as a historic site. For this reason, no one is permitted to alter or customize any part of the property for his or her event. No material may be attached, affixed, tacked, stapled or taped on the walls, doors, or any part of the interior or exterior of the Wagner House, including but not limited to the Tea House or other structures, pool, plants, etc. The artwork may not be removed from the walls. The piano may not be moved and nothing may be placed on it.

No Smoking
The Wagner House is designated as a "No Smoking Area". Guests may smoke in the outside patio areas. Please place cigarette butts in appropriate disposal containers. When you arrive at Lakewold Gardens, you will notice the gardens and the house are free of cigarette butts. If Lakewold Gardens must clean up the cigarette butts deposited by your guests, you will be charged accordingly.

Children
Children are welcome at Lakewold Gardens; however, it is your responsibility to see that they are supervised at all times.
